Image’s founder steps down.

Kevin Kelly, creator and founder of Image magazine and Image Interiors and publisher of Garden Heaven, has decided to retire from Image Publications Ltd.

Kelly will continue to pursue his other publishing interests in Ireland and Europe. The board has added a new shareholder and director, Robert Power, while Image managing director Richard Power has also acquired shares in the company. Ann Reihill remains a shareholder and board member. Patrick Dillon-Malone remains a director.

Adspend Jan 2009 v 2010

 

The latest and most up to date full month information tells us that overall spends for Jan 2009 V Jan 2010 are up 1.8% YOY.  The biggest % decline came from Cinema and Press saw the biggest % increase in spend, up 11% YoY.  TV saw a 5% drop in spend YoY, a healthy return from the strong declines  of over -20% last year.

As part of the repositioning for Adults 25-44, RTÉ 2fm launched their brand new advertising campaign on Mar 29th with a heavy burst of TV which will be supported by Outdoor, Online and Radio. The message “Come Together” is executed, creative by Cawley Nea. The campaign is running two bursts Apr-July and Sept-Dec.

Eirgrid – New Campaign

A new client to Vizeum, Eirgrid launches its new branding campaign on 1st April with a great new TV ad. Eirgrid is Ireland’s independent electricity Transmission System Operator. The campaign is supported by press and online and to find out how they keep the lights on go to www.eirgrid.com

JNLR REPORTS

A degree of publicity regarding errors in data derived from the JNLR has recently been generated.  The JNLR Management Committee comprises representatives of Radio Stations, the Advertisers’ Association, the Institute of Advertising Practitioners, and the Broadcasting Authority as an independent grouping that monitor and manage the research in the interest of the industry at large.  The JNLR Management Committee requested the Research company and those providing data process services and software to fully investigate the matter.  This work has now been completed and we would like to clarify the situation for all.

TGI Teasers – Guide to Food Consumption

61% of Irish adults agree they like to try new food products, up from 57% in 2008. Over the same period the number of people who claimed that they are very interested in reading about food and drink climbed from 11% to 17%. The most popular day for regular grocery shopping is Friday, with 28% of main shoppers active then, followed by Saturday and Thursday. 70% always or very often take their own shopping bag, compared to 28% in Northern Ireland.

BAI – Revised Budgets

The Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI) will present a revised budget at its next board meeting on March 29.

Michael O’Keeffe, chief executive, said he could not give any further details, other than that ‘‘the revision will be downward’’. The revised budget would be made generally available after that date, he said.
